New England Christmas

This bar smells just like the forest did when you were a kid (chopping down that Christmas tree with your folks)- piney, brisk and fresh. It's a fantastic "woodsy" scent; the pine notes really come out in the soap. With oodles shea butter, natural clay and ground nettles.

With one of my three farmer's markets closing this week for the season, I'll start preparing for all the holiday shows coming up soon. We introduced these samplers this summer and they were a smashing success!

We seldom assemble two alike. Wrapped in assorted handmade poapers & tagged and ready to give to a special person or heck, keep it for yourself!

Herbal endings

All of the herb gardens are being put to bed.. the potting shed is full of drying basils, comfrey, lavender, calendula, burdock root, horsetail, sweet annie, rosemary, mints & thymes. Jars and jars of herbal infusions lined up and readied to be formulated. We'll be working on the winter balms & healing salves this week.. readying for the last of the years 7 holiday shows.

In spite of all the rain we've had this season.. the comfrey beds abound.

Old Goat's Facelift

Old Goat Muscle Rub, one of the first products I formulated fifteen years ago has a new packaging facelift! No more tins for this little wonder. I've switched over to 3 oz glass jars and my customers are really happy with the new size. Our old family recipe from down on the farm, helps to relieve muscle aches and joint stiffness and we're very pleased to say in addition to our U.S. customers, our little healing balm has traveled as far East to China.

Herbal Fusion

This is another of our new soaps for the Autumn line we tried out this summer. It's been a great seller for me and clearly has a following. A gorgeous layered herbal infused bar with oodles of creamy oppulent lather and lemongrass/mint fragrance blend to die for!

Boo Boo Balm

One of my best sellers, especially this time of year is my Boo-Boo Balm. Moms, Dads, Grandma's always pick up a tin for those cuts and scrapes youngsters inevitably come home with.

Don't Get Caught--Dirty Handed

Don’t Get Caught Dirty Handed

When it comes to washing their hands, Americans say they are getting the message, but their actions speak otherwise. While nine out of ten (92%) Americans, in a recent telephone survey, said they always washed their hands after using a public restroom, an observational survey in 5 cities found the actual number to be more like 3 out of 4 (77%). That’s down nearly 10% from a similar study done in 2005, and it’s all the men’s fault. The percentage of males observed washing their hands fell from 75% in 2005 to 66% in 2007. Overall, percentage of females observed washing their hands is only down slightly from 90% in 2005 to 88% in 2007.

Sweethearts soap

This was a special order for a Valentine's day wedding I thought I'd post.. rosewood & patchiouli. I forgot to take a pic of them packaged. This customer supplied the prettiest handmade pale mint green taffeta bags with tiny assorted roses embroidered on them.

Ringing in the new

It's a new start of a whole new year. 2009 marks our fourteenth anniversary! Some new changes are in the works and I'll keep you posted.

With end of the year inventories finally behind us, I can begin my new soap and toiletries lineup for 2009. Many new earthy and herbal bars with three new lines are already in the works. Keeping our costs down while still producing a naturally rich and moisturizing soap will remain at the forefront of our philosophy.

We've signed on to do a third marketplace this year, and though it will require a well planned balancing act, one I'm really excited to be participating in! So stay in touch for updates & happy New Year all!
